Hegseth Faces First Confirmation Hearing
Briefly

During his confirmation hearing, Pete Hegseth faced allegations regarding past conduct but defended his integrity, stating, "I was fully investigated and completely cleared" of sexual assault claims.
Hegseth assured his commitment to making changes by saying, "In President Trump's Defense Department, they will be apologized to, they will be re-instituted with pay and rank" regarding service members discharged over vaccine refusals.
Senate Armed Services Chairman Roger Wicker commented on Hegseth's performance, stating, "I don't think they laid a glove on him... the most important audience was the American people, and they have to be impressed."
Hegseth's apparent reversal on women in combat roles was noted when he confirmed to Senator Ernst that "Women will have access to ground combat roles" despite previous opposition.
