"We have a broken immigration system that needs to be repaired," Harris replied when pressed about immigration. However, she avoided directly answering key questions about illegal immigration statistics and policy changes.
"Listen, that was five years, and I've made it very clear that I will follow the law," she reiterated her stance on immigration, distancing herself from past positions on free services for illegal immigrants.
"I do not believe in decriminalizing border crossings, and I've not done that as vice president, and I will not do that as president," emphasizing her commitment to a stricter immigration policy.
"I do believe that the American people are ready to turn the page on the divisiveness and the type of rhetoric that has come out of Donald Trump..." she stated regarding the current political climate.
