Framroze Virjee has stepped down as president and CEO of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB) after less than a year in office. His resignation was attributed to a lack of alignment between the role and his personal and professional aspirations. Ross Mugler, chair of the AGB Board of Directors, will serve as acting president during the transition. Virjee, a former president at California State University, Fullerton, emphasized his commitment to AGB's mission and higher education in his farewell message.
This was a difficult decision and not one that I made casually, but instead only after careful consideration and thought.
Fram shared that after working diligently to further the organization's mission, he determined that the president/CEO role at AGB did not align operationally with his personal and professional goals.
The AGB Board of Directors accepted his resignation and offered its appreciation for his accomplishments during his tenure.
As a result of this announcement, I have agreed to serve as acting president and CEO while the AGB Board of Directors finalizes details regarding new leadership.
