Two men rescued from 250-foot mine shaft in remote California desert
Briefly

Last week, crews in San Bernardino County performed a complex rescue operation after two rappellers became stranded 250 feet down an abandoned mine shaft near Twentynine Palms. The men were trapped due to equipment failure on April 19, prompting a 911 call from a companion. Fire crews utilized specialized vehicles capable of maneuvering rugged terrain and set up a dual-line rope system to safely hoist the men out just after 7 p.m. Remarkably, both were uninjured, showcasing the readiness of local emergency services in challenging situations.
"We had to dispatch everybody from all different points in the county," Shawn Millerick, a spokesperson for San Bernardino County Fire, said in the video.
"This incident demonstrates San Bernardino County Fire's readiness to respond to emergencies in even the most challenging environments," SBCF wrote.
