The Philippines is set to introduce a digital nomad visa aimed at attracting remote workers, offering them the opportunity to live and work in the country for a year with potential renewals. Applicants must demonstrate adequate income, health insurance, and a clean criminal record. Unlike some neighboring countries, the Philippines boasts a low cost of living, picturesque beaches, and a high English proficiency, making it an appealing destination for digital nomads.
"Allowing digital nomads the opportunity to stay longer in the country will spur tourism activities and increase visitor spending," tourism secretary Christina Frasco said.
"The new visa allows eligible remote workers to stay in the Philippines for a year and allows for visa renewals after that time."
