"While we don't know yet what will happen to the Illinois Operations Center or Corporate Headquarters, we will eventually pass back savings to our customers by reducing costs associated with unoccupied space. We simply have too much office space in Bloomington - about double what we need."
"While State Farm does not expect a full-time return to the office for hybrid employees, they will be together more in the future. In Bloomington, Corporate South will accommodate all hybrid employees. Each business area determines work schedules for its employees."
State Farm, Bloomington-Normal's largest employer with approximately 13,000 local workers, announced plans to consolidate its workforce into the Corporate South complex by the end of 2027. The company will close its Corporate Headquarters and Illinois Operations Center, citing that it has roughly double the office space it currently needs. State Farm did not disclose future plans for the two closing properties but indicated cost savings will eventually be passed to customers. The company also signaled a shift toward increased in-person work for hybrid employees, though full-time office returns are not expected. Corporate South, the newest facility, will undergo renovations to accommodate all hybrid employees, with preparation work already underway.
