Samsung is now tracking employee office attendance
Briefly

Samsung is enforcing a return-to-office policy, introducing a compliance tracking tool for attendance in its semiconductor sector. This tool will allow managers to monitor team members' time spent in the office. Despite the push for employees to work fulltime in-office, the company also adopted a hybrid work model in 2023. A six-day work week was requested for executives as a response to sales performance challenges. Observations indicate an increase in office attendance and activity as employees return to office work.
This tool will provide each Manager with visibility to the number of days & time in building metrics for each team member, ensuring attendance compliance.
Considering that performance of our major units, including Samsung Electronics Co., fell short of expectations in 2023, we are introducing the six-day work week for executives.
We are already experiencing increased foot traffic daily, with more cars in the parking lot and hungry mouths in our cafeterias on Fridays.
Samsung embraced a global hybrid work model in 2023, rolling out 500 new jobs, with 58.3% allowing some work from home.
