The Norfolk County Sheriff's Office assistant deputy superintendent, Thomas Brady, violated conflict of interest laws by using department plumbers for personal plumbing work at no cost.
The state Ethics Commission found that Brady's requests for plumbing work were inherently coercive due to his superior rank, leading to violations of ethics laws.
Despite performing work on four occasions for Brady without compensation, plumbers received bottles of wine as thanks, breaching ethics law prohibiting 'valuable unwarranted privileges'.
A public hearing regarding the conflict of interest allegations against Brady will occur within 90 days, with penalties potentially reaching $10,000 for each violation.
