"Together Mode will no longer be available as of June 30, a move that will "simplify the meeting experience" for users, said Katarina Tranker, Teams product manager, in a Monday blog post. At this point, the feature will be removed as an option from the View menu in Teams meetings, with the Gallery view the primary layout for group meetings."
Together Mode provided a shared virtual space during video calls by cropping participants’ video feeds and placing them into scenes such as a conference room, coffee shop, or amphitheater. Microsoft stated that Together Mode reduced video meeting fatigue, a frequent complaint among remote workers using tools like Teams and Zoom. The feature aligned with efforts to make meetings more immersive, including Microsoft’s broader metaverse-for-work direction through Mesh 3D meetings. Microsoft retired Mesh in December, and Together Mode is now being retired as well. Together Mode will stop being available on June 30, and it will be removed from the View menu, with Gallery view becoming the primary layout for group meetings.
