This weekend, Microsoft 365 suffered an outage caused by a problematic code change, leaving many users unable to access Outlook. Reports indicated over 30,000 users experienced login issues. Microsoft responded by reverting the code change, claiming the service is monitored for recovery. However, some users, especially on iOS, continued to experience difficulties even after the fix. As the week began, Microsoft warned of ongoing downtime affecting other services, adding frustration to users who rely on Microsoft products, marking a turbulent start to the year for the company regarding outages.
Following our reversion of the problematic code change, we've monitored service telemetry and worked with previously impacted users to confirm that service is restored.
At least 30,000 Outlook users reported problems via DownDetector alone, and there are still intermittent issues for some users as the new week swung around.
