Eight employees of the Hampden County Sheriff's Department have filed a class action lawsuit alleging unlawful unpaid work during mandatory physical fitness tests, conducted annually.
The lawsuit claims an illegal policy by the Sheriff's Department that denies payment to employees for two hours spent on compulsory fitness evaluations, as stated in the court records.
The complaint is intended to represent not only the eight named plaintiffs but also all other employees who find themselves in similar situations.
The department has not yet provided a response to the lawsuit or the allegations from the spokesperson at this time.
