Conceived during the peak expansion of Alpine tourismnew ski runs, cableways, infrastructure, and holiday residencesGiomein interprets the mountain not as scenery but as a morphological and perceptual system against which architecture chooses to measure itself."
co.arch's intervention occupies a 120 m² residence within the Giomein complex in Cervinia, positioned on the promontory overlooking the Breuil basin and the Cervino. The Giomein complex, designed by Mario Galvagni and completed in 1972, originated during the expansion of Alpine tourism with new ski runs, cableways, infrastructure and holiday residences. The project interprets the mountain as a morphological and perceptual system and positions architecture to measure itself against that system. The design incorporates products from manufacturers such as Artemide, Astro Lighting, Besana Moquette, Cristina Rubinetterie and others. The project team includes Andrea Pezzoli, Giulia Urciuoli and collaborators, with CF Ediliza as general contractor.
