Lovie Simone leads new series that adapts Judy Blume's 'Forever...' for TV
Briefly

In the new Netflix series 'Forever,' creator Mara Brock Akil expresses admiration for lead actress Lovie Simone, emphasizing her dynamic performance. The series reimagines the young romance of the classic Judy Blume novel, shifting the narrative to a Black couple in a contemporary setting. Simone highlights the show’s focus on character development, allowing her role as a love interest to convey deeper stories. The chemistry between Simone and her co-star Michael Cooper Jr. is intentional, stemming from keeping their distance during filming to reflect their characters' past interactions.
I was like, 'Oh my God, not only is this girl beautiful, she's acting her ass off,' Akil said. It was a privilege to know that 'something that I wrote is aligned with her moment.'
I think it does a good job at mimicking the energy and the intention of the book,
It was like, 'Wow, I am the love interest, and I have a story to tell while being the love.' It's really nice to not just be the girlfriend.
In the beginning of the story, they hadn't talked in so long so, we didn't want to have too much rapport.
