Lisa Marcellino, a 66-year-old former caregiver from Louisville, shares her journey of loneliness after her divorce from a 34-year marriage. Moving back with her parents, she initially struggled with a lack of social interaction, especially during the isolation of COVID-19. However, a friend's recommendation led her to join the Ethel Circle, a Facebook group for older women. This online community not only provided companionship but also fostered conversations around shared life experiences, helping her rebuild a social life at 61 and transition into a more fulfilling stage of life.
Through the Ethel Circle, I found a community of support and friendship among women my age, sharing experiences that helped me combat loneliness post-divorce.
I had been feeling isolated and out of touch until I realized that it's not too late to foster connections and meet new people, even at this stage in life.
