Annie Murphy is excited to portray Imogen O'Clair in Season 2 of Nine Perfect Strangers, a character that allows her to express bratty behaviors absent in real life. The role came as a refreshing challenge following her iconic performance in Schitt's Creek, as she seeks to demonstrate versatility in her acting career. Shooting primarily in Munich but also visiting picturesque locations in Austria, Murphy reflects on the unique experience of blending work with travel and personal growth, hoping to work through character conflicts with her on-screen mother, played by Christine Baranski.
Murphy plays Imogen O'Clair, an academic who's pioneered the study of linguistic psychology - but struggles when it comes to communicating with her mother.
Being able to play someone kind of bratty and know-it-all-y, who even at 35 is acting out against her mom, was really appealing.
After six years of Schitt's Creek, I was like, 'Is this all I can do?' So I have been trying to challenge myself.
We shot most of it in Munich, but then we also traveled to a few beautiful places in Austria.
