23 Disney Guests Who Left Their Manners (And Common Sense) At Home
"My husband, two kids, and I were at Disneyland, in line for one of the rides in Fantasyland. There were a lot of switchbacks in the lines, which had gates to let people in and out of line for bathroom breaks and whatnot. My family was next to one of these gates after standing in line for close to an hour; we were sooo close to the front of the line at this point. The whole time we'd been in line, these two women about our age had been in front of us. As we were about to pass the gate, all of a sudden, one of the women opened it and let in what we discovered was the rest of her family - no less than 20 people. We were like, WTF? The two women explained that they had been standing in line as placeholders, so their family members could go on other rides in the meantime, and they got back to our line in time to cut right in front of us just as we were about to board the ride."
"Our kids were crushed. We told them that sometimes things happen, but we just try to carry on; we'd just have to wait a few more minutes. It wasn't the absolute end of the world, etc. It happened that the grandmother of the family overheard us and started to talk shit about us in another language, thinking we wouldn't understand. She was just ripping us a new asshole because our kids were upset that so many people (20!) had jumped in line in front of us. Imagine her surprise when my husband asked her, in that same language, in which he happens to be fluent, what her problem was. The grandmother froze in her tracks, and one of her daughters tried to apologize for the things her mother had said, while simultaneously justifying their loose approach to standing in line. My husband just kept on holding eye contact with the granny, who suddenly had nothing else to say. We did eventually enjoy the ride, and our children think their dad is an absolute hero."
A family waited nearly an hour in a Disneyland Fantasyland line and stood next to a gate close to boarding. Two women who had been ahead opened the gate and let in about twenty relatives, cutting in right before the family could board. The children were upset and the parents tried to calm them. The grandmother of the cutting group insulted the waiting family in another language, not realizing the husband understood. The husband responded in that same language, causing the grandmother to fall silent; the family later enjoyed the ride and praised the father's response.
