Thousands who have yet to pay property tax warned money will be taken from wages
"Revenue will start its annual LPT non-compliance campaign for the almost 170,000 properties that have not filed their return or have a payment in place."
"Letters are to go out this week to property owners who have yet to pay, informing them they have a fortnight to file their return and payment."
"Failure to do so will result in enforcement action, and Revenue can impose interest of 8pc a year on unpaid LPT amounts."
New figures reveal that 170,000 homes have not submitted local property tax (LPT) returns. A total of 390,000 properties are yet to file. Property owners were required to revalue their properties and indicate payment methods. Revenue reports that payments are being received for 227,000 properties based on 2021 valuations. Revenue will begin its annual LPT non-compliance campaign, sending letters to those who have not paid. Failure to respond may lead to deductions from wages and enforcement actions, including interest charges on unpaid amounts.
