He adds: Homes that can offer a genuine workspace, whether that's a converted room, a garden office, or a purpose-built outbuilding, tend to stand out far more strongly in the market and attract more serious buyer interest."

Dedicated office space can be highly sought after and, in some estimates, add up to 15 percent to a property's value. Hybrid working patterns and the prevalence of one-person businesses operating from homes have increased demand for professional workspaces. Property listings with offices have risen, with around 82,000 residential properties featuring an office listed in January 2026 on Zoopla. Converted rooms, garden offices, and outbuildings tend to attract more serious buyer interest.
