John A. Sobrato urged residents to increase giving and recruit volunteers to help the most vulnerable meet current challenges. He credited family and Jesuit education with shaping his values. PACT celebrated its 40th anniversary at an overflow luncheon held at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. PACT honored the Immigrant Protection and Empowerment Network (IPEN) for providing legal and emotional support to immigrant families facing deportation and separation. Rev. Jon Pedigo, PACT's executive director, said the large turnout demonstrated strong support for community organizing. He said community organizing develops the voice of people who do not feel seen as part of the community.
