Plans submitted to turn going-out hotspot in south London into skyscrapers
"We have spent many months listening to the community to understand their priorities and their views have helped shape the plans. The development will provide a mix of new homes alongside workspaces and community space, as well as improvements to the streets and areas that local people will use every day. The delivery of housing in London is at critically low point, so we are proud that our partnership with the Council will deliver much needed affordable homes in the heart of Brixton"
"The proposed scheme at 49 Brixton Station Road would replace shipping container market Pop Brixton. It would see two new tower blocks of homes built at 18 storeys and 20 storeys tall. Each flat will have a private balcony. There will also be a six-storey building with a shared roof terrace for residents and a space for shops and workspaces."
Redevelopment proposals for two Brixton sites would replace Pop Brixton with two residential towers of 18 and 20 storeys, plus a six-storey building offering a shared roof terrace, shops and workspaces. International House at Canterbury Crescent would be refurbished and extended by two storeys to create 69 private homes. The combined scheme would deliver 288 new homes, with 40% designated as affordable and some social housing. Each flat would include a private balcony. The project includes community space, market trader space and aims to improve local streets while addressing London’s housing shortage through a council–developer partnership.
