Family-run Tahoe resort sells to private development for the ultra-wealthy
"With the purchase, Martis Camp Club - part of Martis Camp, an exclusive gated community of multimillion-dollar homes just 5 miles south of Truckee - will take over ownership and operations of the property formerly known as Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort. The resort was originally built in 1942 on Lake Tahoe's north shore, nearly equidistant between its two major lakefront towns: 9 miles east of Tahoe City and 7 miles west of Incline Village."
"The property includes a 3.2-acre lakefront parcel with a 32-unit hotel and four-bedroom residence and - perhaps most notably - a 275-foot stretch of pristine Lake Tahoe shoreline. The sale also includes two forest-side parcels across Highway 89 from the lakefront properties. The forest side of the property features a 5.9-acre mixed-use parcel, which includes modest cabins and the Mourelatos' fabled Cable Car Ice Cream Parlor that served up summertime treats for a quarter century."
Martis Camp Club acquired the family-owned Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort on Lake Tahoe's north shore. The property includes a 3.2-acre lakefront parcel with a 32-unit hotel, a four-bedroom residence and a 275-foot stretch of shoreline. The sale also transfers two forest-side parcels across Highway 89: a 5.9-acre mixed-use parcel with modest cabins and the Cable Car Ice Cream Parlor, and a 12-acre undeveloped forested lot. The Mourelatos family purchased the Tahoe Vista resort in 1978 and operated it for nearly 50 years. Chase Developments agents represented both sides in the transaction.
