Speaking after the victory at Wembley Stadium, Valverde confirmed that he will don the number in Carlo Ancelotti's squad next season. 'I love number 15, my dream at Real Madrid started with this number,' said the Uruguayan. 'But yes, I will change it in two months. Let's say that chapter finished quite well.'
When asked how much he would miss his midfield partner, Valverde added: 'He is a person who has left his legend here, his mark. We, as youngsters, try to learn as much from him as possible, like with [Luka] Modric. Thank you for all that you have given and taught us on a day-to-day basis, for that competitiveness.'
