Kroos backs Guler to lead Real Madrid into golden period
"He's a different type of player than me. His best position is clearly more attacking than mine, so he's not my successor at all. But I'm generally happy for him because he's a good lad. I was still able to play with him. He has a really fine touch, which he has already used very effectively for Madrid this season. That's why I hope he continues to get consistent playing time, because that's the only way he can improve."
"Just because you hear less from me doesn't mean I'm idle. There's a lot going on. I work daily at my academy in Madrid, where I personally coach two teams. Also, my foundation celebrated its tenth anniversary with a big event in Dusseldorf, which I was able to combine perfectly with the Icon League."
Toni Kroos praised Arda Guler's development and increased first-team minutes at Real Madrid, calling him a reliable player for the future. Kroos noted that Guler is more attack-minded than his own role and therefore not a direct successor, while highlighting Guler's fine touch and effective contributions this season. Kroos expressed hope that consistent playing time will enable further improvement and a lasting impact at the club. Guler has seen more opportunities under Xabi Alonso after injuries curtailed his involvement under Carlo Ancelotti last season. Kroos retired after another Champions League win and now works at his Madrid academy and foundation.
