Enzo Fernandez is expected to be allowed to leave Chelsea this summer if the club receives its £120m asking price. Fernandez has six years remaining on his contract, giving Chelsea flexibility and no immediate pressure to sell. He has informed the club that he wants to depart, with Real Madrid viewed as a likely destination after earlier public flirtation. He was internally suspended for two matches in April after comments about moving to Madrid, and he also expressed uncertainty about staying beyond the summer to Argentinian media after the Champions League exit to Paris St Germain. Chelsea plans to keep him involved next season, but will consider a departure for a club-record fee. He scored 15 goals and made seven assists last season and was signed from Benfica for £107m in 2023. Chelsea also plans to invest in experienced players to challenge for the Premier League title, requiring substantial funds, while Real is reportedly unsure about bidding at the asking price.
"His signing in February 2023 in the aftermath of helping Argentina win the World Cup was an early coup by owners BlueCo, then in their first years of ownership, and he has been considered a key part of their long-term plans. The club intend to invest in the close season in experienced players who can take Chelsea closer to challenging for the Premier League title and to do so they will require significant funds. Real are reported to be unsure over whether to make an official bid with the Blues' asking price believed to be a stumbling block."
