A single passenger opening one window on a bus during triple-digit temperatures can disrupt ventilation and cooling. All other windows remain closed while the air conditioning operates effectively, so the lone open window forces the system to work harder and lets hot outside air in. Vulnerable passengers can depend on the AC for survival, and compromising that environment creates real danger. The behavior generates strong confusion and frustration from other riders who value shared safety and comfort. Such actions shift personal preference into a collective risk when extreme heat is present.
I generally consider myself a pretty tolerant person with regards to what other people's preferences are when riding the bus. But, I must say, I will never understand someone who opens a lone window when the temperature is in the triple digits, every single other window is closed, and the AC is working well, and also potentially saving people's lives.
