Unlicensed woman indicted for performing illegal cosmetic surgery that nearly killed patient in Brooklyn
"District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said the defendant, identified as Nargiza Shukurova of Uzbekistan, posed as a doctor and carried out a high-risk procedure known as a "Brazilian butt lift" at a salon in Sheepshead Bay that was not authorized as a surgical facility. Shukurova, who has no medical license in New York, allegedly promoted her services online under the names "Dr. Nargiza" and "Dr. Nargis," advertising body enhancement and facial cosmetic services."
"According to the investigation, Shukurova performed the procedure on May 7, 2023, without conducting a medical history or physical exam. The victim later developed a severe infection that worsened over several days. Prosecutors said the defendant discouraged the woman from seeking hospital treatment and attempted to manage her condition herself. Nearly three weeks later, the victim lost consciousness and required emergency surgery and extensive hospitalization to survive."
