Two closure orders served on a SuperValu in Cork by FSAI last month after rodent droppings found
"The store received two closure orders in September under the FSAI Act, lifted on September 9 and October 6, respectively. The first order noted "evidence of pest activity in the deli area" with "rodent droppings under the bakery unit". The second order included "holes and gaps on the cavity wall behind the sweet shelf" as well as "evidence of pest activity under and behind the 'special offer refrigerator unit' and on the shop floor"."
"Meanwhile, in a separate order, restaurant Wok In Noodle Bar at Stephen Street Lower in Dublin 2 was handed a closure order under the same Act, due to "rodent droppings behind seating booths directly adjacent to food preparation and servery areas" and a "significant build up of food debris and grease". The order was lifted on September 26. Two more closure orders were served under the European Union regulations."
Five closure and five prohibition orders were issued for breaches of food safety legislation in September. SuperValu Hollyhill received two closure orders citing pest activity, rodent droppings, and gaps in cavity walls behind stock; those orders were lifted on September 9 and October 6. Wok In Noodle Bar was closed for rodent droppings behind seating adjacent to food areas and significant food debris and grease, with the order lifted on September 26. New Leaf takeaway was ordered to stop preparing and selling sushi and sashimi and remains closed under the EU regulations. MOMO House closed due to lack of hot water, missing hand-cleaning materials, hazardous paint on food contact surfaces, and heavy accumulations of grease and old food residues; that order was lifted on October 10 and the business ceased operations the same day. Two prohibition orders were issued to the food business Vita.
