An abandoned, trash-filled lot on West 32nd Street in Coney Island is overrun by rats. Photographs show neighborhood cats and rodents sharing food sources, with cats apparently giving up attempts to deter the rats. Residents and local workers are frustrated by the infestation and have filed numerous complaints to 311. Those complaints have been referred to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for investigation. News 12 attempted to contact the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for comment. The Department has not provided a response at this time.
