Teen lifeguards save 3 siblings in latest rescue at Pennsylvania pool

On July 23, lifeguards at the Tamaqua Community Pool rescued three siblings in distress in the pool's deepest section. An 11-year-old girl struggled to keep her 6-year-old brother and 4-year-old sister afloat. Lifeguards Brandon Temarantz and Millie Black responded quickly; Temarantz saved one child while Black rescued the other two. The frantic state of the children complicated the rescue. Fortunately, all three siblings were removed safely, showed no injuries, and were advised to monitor for potential dry drowning after inhaling water.
On July 23, an 11-year-old girl and her younger siblings, ages 6 and 4, struggled in the 11-feet deep section of a pool near its diving well, prompting a lifeguard rescue.
15-year-old lifeguards Brandon Temarantz and Millie Black responded swiftly, with Temarantz rescuing one child while Black managed to rescue both younger siblings.
Pool manager Beth Fritzinger-Jones confirmed the children were in serious trouble and commended the quick response of the lifeguards and additional staff involved in the rescue.
After the rescue, the children showed no injuries and were advised by their parents to watch for signs of dry drowning, which can occur after water inhalation.
