Smoke and sirens at Fenchurch Street as c2c stages fire evacuation drill
"There was smoke and fire engines outside Fenchurch Street earlier this month, as they carried out a fire evacuation drill while the station was closed for engineering works. The fire drill simulated smoke coming from the station and showed the collective response of c2c staff to a real incident. Four fire engines were on hand, as the London Fire Brigade's (LFB) firefighters cleared the building and found the source of the smoke."
"c2c Safety and Operations Director, Stuart Browning, said: "Fenchurch Street station is one of London's oldest termini and I am very proud of our teams for seeing this as an opportunity to ensure our colleagues are well trained and better equipped to respond to emergency events." To cover the simulation, c2c has made a film that shows the extent of the exercise, which can be seen below."
Smoke was simulated at Fenchurch Street station during a fire evacuation drill while the station was closed for engineering works. The exercise involved c2c staff responding collectively to the simulated incident and four London Fire Brigade engines attending to clear the building and locate the smoke source. c2c Safety and Operations Director Stuart Browning praised the teams for using the exercise to improve training and emergency readiness. c2c produced a film documenting the simulation. The drill was organised by c2c's Fire Safety Manager and former firefighter Tony Parkin. The timing coincided with service diversions to Liverpool Street during engineering works.
