Dr Andrea Ammon, ECDC director, said: 'Nobody should die from measles. Vaccines are a safe and effective way to reduce the health burden of infectious diseases and avoid unnecessary loss of life.'
One case of measles has been confirmed in Ireland this year. Efforts must focus on vaccinating vulnerable groups to prevent outbreaks.
