
"Striking nurses and hospital management returned to the bargaining table on Tuesday, with hopes of ending the largest nurses strike in NYC history. Before midnight on Wednesday, NewYork-Presbyterian said the hospital made slight progress during late-night bargaining with the nurses, facilitated by a third party. The NewYork-Presbyterian bargaining team was on site at the Javits Center today, working through the mediator to exchange proposals on non-economic matters, the hospital said in a statement."

Nearly 15,000 nurses from multiple hospitals have been on strike since Jan. 12 after their previous contract expired Dec. 31, seeking a fair contract. Negotiations resumed with nurses and hospital management returning to the bargaining table and mediator-facilitated talks at the Javits Center. NewYork-Presbyterian reported incremental progress during late-night bargaining and one tentative agreement on non-economic matters. The New York State Nurses Association reported that NewYork-Presbyterian and Mount Sinai agreed to keep caretakers' health insurance in place. Picketing continued outside affected hospitals, and nurses at Montefiore planned a press conference with NYC Council Member Shirley Aldebol. Concerns about anti-immigrant, anti-labor influence and patient and nurse safety remain central to the strike.
