Measles outbreaks: unvaccinated people face three-week stay at home after being in creche, school or hospital

The updated guidance from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) comes amid concerns that uptake of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine (MMR) has fallen to below 90pc and leaves Ireland vulnerable to outbreaks.
In some outbreak situations, non-immune individuals will be advised to stay away from schools/childcare/hospital for 21 days after the last case to protect themselves and others from measles.
