'I've been waiting years for a kidney transplant'

""My greatest fear is being taken off the transplant list because the disease has progressed too far and it'll be too late," she shared regarding her concerns about her health."

Nearly 1,400 individuals in London are awaiting lifesaving organ transplants, while only 32% of Londoners are registered organ donors. In the past year, 68 people died waiting for transplants, totaling 808 deaths over the last decade. Consent rates from families approached for organ donation are low, at 52%. Despite a law assuming consent unless opted out, families still make the final decision. Health officials emphasize the importance of registering organ donation decisions to increase family agreement during critical times.
