Helicopter airlifts injured hiker from isolated trail during July Fourth weekend

On July 4, a helicopter crew airlifted an injured hiker near Alpine Lake in Marin County. Marin County Emergency Communications Center requested the Henry 1 helicopter to assist with a rescue on the Helen Markt Trail. Ross Valley Fire Department paramedics reached the hiker using a boat and provided emergency medical care despite rugged terrain. The helicopter crew executed a 200-foot longline rescue to transport the injured individual and paramedic to an ambulance for further treatment. The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office expressed pride in supporting allied agencies with advanced rescue capabilities.
