Dire blood shortage in Gaza as deaths from Israeli attacks, starvation grow
Briefly

Malnutrition among Gaza Palestinians has led to a critical shortage of blood donations, exacerbating an already collapsing healthcare system. Israeli forces' targeting of medical facilities and an ongoing aid blockade contribute to the dire situation. Healthcare officials report many donors are malnourished, jeopardizing the safety and quality of blood transfusions. As a result, patients in need can't receive necessary medical treatment. The World Health Organization has expressed urgency for international medical evacuations and calls for countries to assist Gaza's healthcare needs.
Healthcare officials in Gaza reported a severe shortage of blood donations as many would-be donors are too malnourished due to a hunger crisis that has claimed 193 lives.
Many people who arrived at the blood banks were begging doctors to allow them to donate blood for their loved ones but were turned away due to malnutrition.
Amani Abu Ouda, head of the blood bank at al-Shifa Hospital, stated that most would-be donors are malnourished, compromising the safety and quality of donations.
The World Health Organization warned that more than 14,800 patients in Gaza need urgent specialized treatment, urging the international community for immediate action.
