The Treasury Department is restricting access to sensitive payment records for almost all members of the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), following legal action by union groups. Only Tom Krause and his employee Marko Elez will retain access. This decision arises amidst growing concerns over DOGE's activities, particularly regarding its reported attempts to access systems in several federal departments. The uproar highlights the potential overreach of the leadership under Elon Musk, prompting scrutiny of federal system integrity.
The Treasury Department has agreed to temporarily block all but two members of the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team from accessing sensitive payment records.
The order is the latest development in a lawsuit union groups filed against Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday.
The agreement comes amid an uproar over how DOGE, which is run by billionaire Elon Musk, has penetrated federal agencies and reportedly accessed sensitive systems.
The DOGE workers allowed to continue accessing Treasury's payment systems are Tom Krause and his employee Marko Elez, according to the court filing.
