Qantas experienced a cyberattack that breached a third-party platform used by its contact center, affecting personal information of approximately 5.7 million customers. The compromised data includes names, email addresses, and frequent flyer numbers. A minority of about one million customers had additional details such as physical addresses, birth dates, phone numbers, genders, and meal preferences exposed. Although many addresses are outdated, customers aged 15 and above will be informed of how their data was impacted and can view data through their accounts. Qantas advised vigilance against potential fraud.
