Sony is complying with the UK's Online Safety Act by notifying PlayStation players of age verification requirements. From June 2026, PS4 and PS5 owners in the UK and Ireland must verify their age to access voice chats, messaging, and other communication services. Age verification is also necessary for broadcasting features. Sony has partnered with Yoti for this process, allowing verification through mobile numbers, face scans, or IDs. Similar measures were implemented by Microsoft for Xbox players last year.
