uBlock Origin, a popular ad-blocking extension, is facing extinction on Chromium browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Users recently reported that the extension has been disabled in Edge, prompting recommendations to remove it as it's no longer supported. The shift is tied to Google's Manifest V3, which enhances security and performance but restricts the functionality of content blockers by limiting access to the WebRequest API necessary for full operation. As Manifest V2 support expires, users may find uBlock Origin non-functional soon.
The days of uBlock Origin are numbered, at least on Chromium browsers. Earlier this week, reports emerged that uBlock Origin stopped working on Google Chrome.
With the limits in place on WebRequest V3, uBlock Origin's picker cannot work. The picker allows you to block specific elements.
