Microsoft is retiring the password management features of the Authenticator app. Starting in June, users cannot add or import new passwords, and by July, the autofill feature will also be disabled. August marks the complete inaccessibility of stored passwords in the app. However, Authenticator remains usable for generating multi-factor authentication codes. Users are encouraged to transition to using Microsoft Edge for saved passwords and to consider moving to passkeys, as passwords are difficult to manage and pose security risks.
Starting in June, you'll no longer be able to add or import new passwords in the Authenticator app, though you can still save passwords through the autofill option.
In July, you'll no longer be able to autofill passwords with Authenticator, and by August, any passwords you've saved in the app will no longer be accessible.

Although Microsoft Authenticator will cease to function as a password manager, it will continue to generate multi-factor authentication codes for secure logins.
