A suspected ransomware attack targeted Miljödata, a Swedish software provider used to manage sick leave and similar HR reports. The attack was detected on Saturday, according to Miljödata chief executive Erik Hallén. Police told local media that the attackers are attempting to extort Miljödata. Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin wrote that the scope of the incident has not yet been clarified and that it is too early to determine actual consequences. Hallén stated that around 200 municipalities and regions were affected; Sweden has 290 municipalities and 21 regions. Investigations and assessments of impacts are ongoing.
