Robert Keele has resigned as head of legal at xAI after over a year, citing a desire to spend more time with his children. He noted differences in worldviews with Elon Musk, who hasn't responded to Keele's departure. Keele described his tenure at xAI as incredible, calling it the adventure of a lifetime, but expressed the difficulty in balancing family and work commitments. He joined xAI shortly before a significant funding round that valued the company at $24 billion. Lily Lim is set to succeed him.
In his announcement, Keele also acknowledged "daylight between our worldviews" with boss Elon Musk, who hasn't commented on Keele's exit.
Despite calling his time at the AI startup "incredible" and working with Musk "the adventure of a lifetime," he said he couldn't keep "riding two horses at once - the family and the job."
