Winter fuel: 780,000 UK pensioners entitled to payment will lose it
Briefly

The government’s own equality analysis reveals that more than 780,000 pensioners currently eligible for the winter fuel payment will lose it under the new means-testing.
From this winter, only those entitled to receive pension credit or certain other benefits will continue to receive the winter fuel allowance, excluding up to 10 million pensioners.
The recent assessment showed 880,000 pensioners entitled to pension credit do not claim it, and only 10% are expected to do so post-policy change.
The changes will significantly impact disabled pensioners and those over 80, with 71% and 83%, respectively, set to lose their winter fuel payment entitlement.
