Tyler Robert Buchanan, a 24-year-old from Scotland, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft in California. He was arrested in Palma airport in June 2024 and has been in US custody since April 2025. Buchanan admitted to being part of a group that defrauded at least a dozen US companies and individuals, stealing at least $8 million in cryptocurrency. The group is accused of stealing a total of $11 million through cybercrimes over a year and a half.
