A tragic explosion of a tanker truck carrying gasoline in southern Haiti has resulted in the death of 26 people and injuries to at least 40 others.
According to civil protection officials, the incident occurred when the tank truck flipped over in Miragoane, leading to multiple casualties and severe burns among victims.
This incident reflects a continuing pattern of fuel-related disasters in Haiti, following a previous explosion in 2021 in Cap-Haitien that killed 75 individuals.
Haitian authorities are coordinating medical transfers for victims in critical condition, with plans to move another 12 individuals suffering from severe burns.
