SquareX has initiated the 'Year of Browser Bugs' (YOBB) project to address the critical security gaps related to browser vulnerabilities. Despite browsers being the primary interface for internet usage, traditional security measures have not sufficiently focused on browser threats. The YOBB project, inspired by previous initiatives like the Month of Bugs, aims to shed light on application-layer attacks that exploit browsers, with SquareX planning to reveal one major vulnerability every month in 2025. This initiative seeks not only to increase awareness but also to reveal new attack vectors previously unknown to the cybersecurity community.
Unlike previous initiatives, the YOBB aims to uncover application layer attacks that target web applications and cloud services, addressing a significant gap in browser security research.
The Year of Browser Bugs project will disclose critical web attacks monthly, focusing on vulnerabilities that exploit the architectural limitations of browsers and existing security solutions.
