Royal Mail has proposed a website service allowing customers to check delivery days for letters, aiming to improve reliability while suggesting reductions in delivery services.
The proposed change would reduce second-class deliveries to alternate weekdays, potentially cutting nearly 1,000 jobs and saving Royal Mail 300 million annually.
Regulator Ofcom is considering these suggestions amidst concerns Royal Mail has delivered less than 80% of first-class post on time recently.
The initiative aims to convince Ofcom that service cuts could lead to a more predictable and reliable mail delivery experience for customers.
