"Here's what happened: A few days into playing around with Sora, I noticed an unsettling video someone had made of me. I've allowed anyone to make "cameos" using my face. (You don't have to do this: You can choose settings that make your likeness private, or open to just your friends - but I figured, why not? And left my likeness open to everyone, just like Sam Altman.)"
"I recognized immediately what this was: fetish content. Like I said, I'd been having a lot of fun on Sora, letting friends and even strangers make silly videos with my face. But the idea that someone was making a video that had some potentnial sexual gratification element made me feel fairly icked out. Over the next week or so, I noticed a few more videos that I immediately recognized from years of poking around the underbelly of the internet as niche fetishes:"
A user left their Sora 2 cameo settings open to everyone and found strangers creating videos using their face. Strangers produced videos depicting pregnancy, belly inflation, giantess scenarios, and other niche fetishized content. Nudity and sexual content are banned on the platform, but fetish content still appeared in cameos and AI-generated profiles. Some Sora accounts were dedicated to specific fetishes and posted many videos in the same genre. The presence of fetishized cameos caused significant discomfort for the person whose likeness was used. Users can restrict cameo visibility to private or friends-only settings.
