The government is proposing to expand the list of ailments pharmacists can assess and treat, and to allow them to administer additional vaccines.
Justin Bates, CEO of the Ontario Pharmacists Association, said, 'The minor ailments program has been going well so far... avoid visits to family doctors and emergency rooms.'
Hannah Jensen emphasized the government's focus on improving access to care in communities, citing the success of the minor ailment program in connecting over 1 million people to treatment.
Doctors are raising concerns over the expansion of pharmacists' scope of practice, although many see it as a necessary response to overburdened healthcare systems.
